When it's time to renew your license, you can select a state to view electrical continuing education and professional development course currently available. HeatSpring is a state-approved continuing education provider in some states, and some courses are offered in partnership with JADE Learning.
California electrician certifications last for three years. If you meet all requirements, you may renew as early as one year before yours expires. Licensing renewal requirements include:
Completing 2,000 industry-related work hours
Taking 32 hours of continuing education relevant to the certification category
Electricians in Florida must meet the following requirements in order to renew their license:
License renewal deadline is August 31, every even year.
Certified and Registered Electrical Contractors: Complete 11 hours of board-approved continuing education every 2 years. At least 7 hours must be technical, including 1 hour Florida Building Code advanced module course. At least 1 hour must be dedicated to each of the following: Workers' Compensation, Workplace Safety, Business, Advanced, and Laws/Rules.
Those engaged in alarm work must have 2 hours on false alarm prevention.
Alarm Contractors: 7 hours of continuing education, including 1 hour Workers' Compensation, 1 hour Workplace Safety, 1 hour Business Practices, 1 hour Florida Laws & Rules, 1 hour Florida Building Code advanced module course, 2 hours False Alarm Prevention.
Specialty Contractors: 7 hours of continuing education, including 1 hour Workers' Compensation, 1 hour Workplace Safety, 1 hour Business Practices, 1 hour Florida Laws & Rules, 1 hour Florida Building Code advanced module course, 2 hours general credit.
Electricians in Texas must complete four hours of electrical continuing education (CE) every year, before their license issue date, to renew.
Virginia (VA)
In Virginia, electricians need 3 hours of continuing education every 3 years, which must be completed through a provider approved by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR). The following courses have been approved by DPOR.

Wisconsin (WI)
The Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) has the following continuing education hours requirements for renewal:
